Sabah choir win gold, silver at world event

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Male-Efficient Choir Club (TME), the nation’s sole representative at the prestigious 6th European Choir Games and Grand Prix of Nations in Aarhus, Denmark, returned with a gold and silver.Team director Leslie George said Malaysia’s success came in Folklore A Cappella (gold) and Adult Choir (Equal Voices – Male Voices) silver.

Standing proudly among Europe’s elite ensembles, the group captured global attention with performances rich in tradition and layered in emotion, showcasing the Dusun, Murut, Tatana, and Malay cultural heritage through choral artistry.“For Folklore A Cappella, we performed four pieces: Sonsomido (Dusun Tambunan folksong), Chan Mali Chan (Malay folksong), Hela Rotane, and Cikala Le Pong Pong (both Indonesian folksongs),” Leslie said.
