….The Implementation Of Car Parking Coupon System
SANDAKAN: A local community figure Dato John Khoo Cheo Ping has urged the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) to consider temporary suspending the implementation of car parking coupon system until “everything has been put in order”.
It is unfair to the Sandakan people being made to pay 50 sen to park their vehicles at the yellow parking lots for 30 minutes when the MPS has already announced the charges is only 25 sen (for the first half an hour), Khoo said in a media statement on Friday.
“News reports quoted a senior MPS officer disclosing currently there are no 25 sen parking coupons and it will take between 2 to 3 months for MPS to print and making the denomination available to the public,” Khoo said.
Khoo also called on MPS to review the monthly season parking pass which at RM 80 is a burden to the Sandakan people whilst in Kota Kinabalu the monthly parking pass is only RM 50.
“MPS should consider temporary put on hold the implementation of the parking system coupon in Sandakan including the 11 satellite towns at least until the two issues have been addressed,” Khoo added.
The implementation of the car parking coupon system by MPS in 11 satellite towns from 2 Sep has caused a public outcry amongst the Sandakan people, as they feel it will further burden them financially given the present slow economy in Sandakan, Khoo said.
