KOTA BELUD: The Kadamaian State Assemblyman, Datuk Ewon Benedick, made a generous contribution of RM8,000 to the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tombulion today.
During the event, he emphasised that these funds would be allocated for various improvements to the school field, as discussed earlier in the day with the PTA head.
In addition to the support for the PTA, Ewon also announced a contribution of RM10,000 to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), which is led by Fendy Rajin, who also serves as the PTA head. This funding is earmarked for the repair and installation of solar lights for the village eco-tourism area, enhancing safety and accessibility for the community.
Ewon expressed his commitment to supporting local initiatives that benefit the school and the surrounding community.
This highlights the importance of collaboration between parents, teachers, and local leaders in fostering a conducive learning environment for students.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Pre-Jamboree Borneo for the Northern West Coast Region and the 2nd Kadamaian Scout Jamboree at SK Tombulion today, Ewon, who also serves as the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, announced that Kampung Kadamaian Laut may be the first village to receive a funding allocation of RM300,000. This funding is intended to upgrade the Tamu Desa and construct an open community hall for the market.
Ewon stated, “This initiative could be realised next year, although the budget is still under discussion in Parliament and has yet to be approved. However, I am confident that there will be no issues.”
He also commended the efforts of the people there as there are now a row of stalls out there, and he congratulated the efforts that have been made to implement this.
On the jamboree, he said, “I hope your experiences during this camping event will help you find a balance between the demands of technology and the benefits of healthy physical activities. Earlier, I heard the Scout Pledge, and part of it resonates deeply with us, reminding us of our commitment to help others. This spirit can be embodied during your jamboree camping this week.”
“I wish you all the best for your future endeavours, as you will soon find yourselves in positions similar to mine, responsible for ensuring the continued development of our country and the success of our states and districts. The youth will inherit the challenges we have yet to resolve, and I am confident that the vision of scouting can guide us toward a brighter future,” he said.
“The principles outlined in the Rukun Negara—belief in God, loyalty to the king and country, the supremacy of the constitution, the rule of law, courtesy, and decency—serve as fundamental values that we should uphold in our daily lives, whether at home, in school, at work, or in our communities. By adhering to these five principles, we can foster unity and cooperation in our diverse nation, ensuring a harmonious future for all.”
