RCKK Pearl brought much-needed food relief to the Bondulu Children’s Home

The Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl (RCKK Pearl) brought much-needed food relief to the Bondulu Children’s Home Tambunan , after learning of its plight highlighted in the media.

The Home that provides food and shelter to 50 needy children aged between five and 19 was adversely affected by  the COVID-19 pandemic, making it difficult for the carers to put food on the table for the residents.

President of RCKK Pearl, Eliza Goh said Rotarian Leslie Jane Jainol, who lives here, has so far visited the foster care institution twice to deliver food essentials and other personal basic necessities on behalf of the Club.

“A chance reading by Club Service Director Caroline Paxton of an online posting about the predicament faced by the Home prompted the Club Board to act swiftly.

“Our food aid as a community service project is made possible by a donation from the Lim Yee Hoh Foundation  in Kuala Lumpur. Thanks to the Foundation’s generosity, we are able to respond to the urgent needs of the Bondulu Children’s Home,” Goh said.

According to the President, the Foundation had earlier made a donation of RM3,000 for the Club’s food relief programme in aid of underprivileged families impacted by the pandemic, through Charter President Datuk Adeline Leong whose sister Kathy Quek is a Board member of the Foundation.

Goh said Leslie will continue to do weekly purchases and delivery of fresh food supplies for the Home until the funds are exhausted, with Club Community Service Director Tulip Noorazyze coordinating from the Club base in KK.

Bondulu Children’s Home is managed by Home Coordinator Sister Germaine M. Angkangon, assisted by Sister Liza Pileh and Sister Anna Andew Sipail.

Thanking Goh, RCKK Pearl and the Foundation, Sister Germaine said : “God will reward you for your charitable deeds. We will remember you all in our prayers.”
