ROYAL BRUNEI NOW FLIES TO TAWAU

TAWAU: Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) now operates flights from Bandar Seri Begawan to Tawau with its inaugural flight to the district in eastern Sabah here yesterday.

The RB aircraft arrived at 6.35 pm and was welcomed with a water canon salute witnessed by Sabah Tourism Board (STB) general manager Noredah Othman, who represented Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew.

In a speech delivered by Noredah, Liew said RB’s new route is a great addition for travellers to access the east coast of Sabah, where RB first launched its flight to Sandakan on Oct 28.

She hoped RB would consider including the Sandakan and Tawau sectors in its promotion exercise to strengthen the airline’s connectivity to Asian countries.

“We recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with RB for a UK marketing joint collaboration and this move is timely as we can also include this new route in the campaign,” she said.

Liew thanked RB for expanding their operations to Sandakan and Tawau, and looked forward to mutually encouraging Bruneians and Malaysians in Sabah to visit each other’s countries.RB flies to Sandakan and Tawau six times weekly.
