Writing Competition to be Part of Kaamatan-Gawai Celebration from next year: Madius

KOTA KINABALU: Starting next year essay writing competition will be made part of the annual KCCI-DCCI Kaamatan-Gawai celeberation. This was announced by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Trade and Industry YB Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau when he launched the 13TH  KCCI-DCCI Kaamatan-Gawai 2019 celebration held on Saturday at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri-la Tangjung Aru Resort (STAR).

“Starting from next year, the annual KCCI-DCCI Kaamatan-Gawai celebration will include essay writing competition. Then title of the essay would be How To Become an Entrepreneur,” Madius said.

“We would love to hear ideas from you. Write-up in any local/native language will be welcomed including the Iban language,” he added.

Madius also suggested that the competition should be divided into four categories namely Primary School students, Secondary School students, College/University students and open category. He announced a seed funding of RM50,000.00 for the competition.

KCCI (Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and DCCI (Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry) have been holding a joint Kaamatan-Gawai celeberation annually for the last 13 years with both chambers hosting the celebration alternatively. The 12th edition of the celebration last year was hosted by DCCI in Miri and this year, the 13th edition was hosted by KCCI.

In conjunction with the 13th KCCI-DCCI Kaamatan-Gawai 1029 Celebration, both chambers engaged in a Business Talk held earlier in the day chaired by Madius.
