SEMPORNA : The Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry held a three-day ‘Sixteen Walkabout’ programme, aimed to find out the real situation in order to reach out to the target groups especially in Sabah and Sarawak.
The walkout, which began last Friday and ended today was part of the ministry’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
According to the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Mohd Sallehuddin Hassan, the 16 walkabouts held across Kota Kinabalu, Papar, Sipitang, Tenom, Keningau, Nabawan, Kalabakan, Tawau and Semporna, covering a distance of 834 kilometres.
The event ended with handing over a Fertigation kit to Sekolah Kebangsaan Mabul and Marine Police here today.
“There are many things that need to be improved, and that is why the programmes were held to see how difficult it was to provide logistic assistance to the target group,” he said when met at the CSR programme and Malaysia Day celebration today.Mohd Sallehuddin said the information and data collected during the walkabout will be used as a guide when preparing the ministry’s 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
