“I wish all a Happy Kaamatan. A bountiful harvest deserves a merry thanksgiving.
This year the bounty suffered the ill effects of Covid-19. Celebrations are therefore muted in the new normal.
It has led to the return of small merrymaking in the confines of family homes.
It is perhaps a welcome return to a more meaningful post-harvest thanksgiving.
The Momogun communities are bracing for a new world. Counting their blessings and preparing to sow new seeds for the coming season and seasons in the years ahead.
Certainly much thought will have to be made on what the new seeds are to be.
Will they be the same varieties that have always guaranteed a satisfactory harvest or shall we try new varieties of that same crop? Or shall we try new crops?
The seemingly obvious answer is that a bountiful harvest must be ensured, well in excess achieved in past years.
Whatever varieties or crops to be planted must bring forth that bounty.
Knowledge and enterprise are indispensable in realising that harvest.
May your toils in the coming year yield a just reward!
Kopivosian, Kotobian Tadau Kaamatan 2020.”
