FOUR ATHLETES FROM SANDAKAN TO REPRESENT SABAH IN WUSHU AT SPORTS CARNIVAL

SANDAKAN:  Four Wushu athletes from Sandakan will be representing Sabah in Wushu at the national level sports carnival “Karnival Bakat Kebangsaan 2019” in Kuala Lumpur Sports City from July 10 to 14.
 
The selection of Ryan Chin Hao Yenn, Kong Eileen, Danell Kong Teck Xin dan Fabian Franky was announced by Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry (KBSS) Sandakan Division officer, Roland Henry Lindan during the closing of the 5th Sandakan Youth Wushu Championship last weekend.
Roland, who represented KBSS Minister Phoong Jin Zhe at the closing ceremony also disclosed that the four athletes would be led by Sandakan Wushu coach, Lim Shung Zer.
 
“National Backup Talent Carnival is organised annually by National Sports Council (MSN) and Wushu is one of the sports included in the programme,” Roland said.
 
Meanwhile, 47 students from SJK (C) Pui Gin, SJK (C) Tai Tong, SJK (C) Lok Yuk primary schools, and SMJK Tiong Hua, SMK Elopura 2 and Sung Siew Secondary School participated in this year’s Sandakan Youth Wushu Championship organised by Kelab Wushu Elopura Sandakan.
 
Ten Wushu athletes from Kota Kinabalu which included Sabah representatives, were invited by the organisers for a series of friendly matches with the Sandakan participants for the first time in the history of championship in Sandakan.
 
Among those present at the closing ceremony were Sabah Wushu Association president Datuk Chin Kim Hiung, deputy president Lee Hon Yee and MSN Sabah Officer Siti Anne.
