SANDAKAN: Jireh Home in Tuaran was chosen as this year’s recipient of KKIP Property Sdn Bhd’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Company Directors, Dr. Peter Jr. Naintin and Datuk Madiyem Layapan who is also the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry together with their spouses and families, General Manager, Samuel Wong, and all staff turned out in full support of the event held on July 13.

“One of the long-held traditional values of K.K.I.P Property Sdn Bhd is a commitment to make a positive impact on the communities where we live and work. It is our belief that as our business is a part of society, we have a social obligation to serve the wellbeing of the society. For this year’s corporate social responsibility activity, we have chosen Jireh Home as the recipient of our CSR programme,” its chairman Dr. Peter said.

Though initially not planned for, Dr. Peter decided to spring a pleasant surprise by giving a motivational talk to the children to inspire them. He shared candidly his personal life as a student growing up; of the difficulties that he had encountered due to a poor family background.

Dr. Peter emphasized on the importance of education and how it can help reshape lives. His message for the children was not to despair when they are faced with difficulties but to work hard through their studies.

Along with other supplies, the visitors brought lunches as a treat for the children and staff.  It was a day of fun-filled activities  and the children were in high spirits and boisterous, participating competitively in all the games. These games had been carefully prepared to ensure inclusiveness so that all the children were engaged and no one was left out.

Whilst the games progressed in earnest to the accompaniment of excited giggles and shouts of laughter, the male staff were busy devoting their time and services to install new mat covers on the floor of the Rest and Relaxation Area. The paint originally covering the floor was worn out, thus the visitors decided to provide floor mats as a new cover. With the newly installed floor mat, the children now have a nice clean floor suitable for their relaxation.

The visitors presented grocery supplies, stationery and books for the Home to the Chairman of Jireh Home’s management board. Each child was presented with a learning kit and an “ang pow” as pocket money by company director, Datuk Madiyem.

One of the highlights of the prgramme was the presentation of a mock cheque for RM2,000 on behalf of the company by Dr Peter, Datuk Madiyem together with Samuel Wong. This represented donations from K.K.I.P Sdn Bhd, its holding company and K.K.I.P Power Sdn Bhd, another subsidiary.
