Frankie Poon and Vivian Wong attending the meeting in Kota Kinabalu on the establishment of the UTC in Sandakan
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Health and People’s Well-being Minister cum Tanjong Papat State Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon and Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong attended a meeting on the establishment of the Urban Transformation Center (UTC) in Sandakan this afternoon.
The meeting brought together officials from the Ministry of Finance, architects, engineers, representatives from the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) , representatives from UTC, and government officials.
Elaborating on the need to set up the UTC in Sandakan, Poon frankly expressed that UTC is not only a government department.
“In fact, its existence will bring various conveniences to Sandakan citizens, especially to office workers, who have no time to go to various government departments to handle affairs during the day,” he added.
Once the UTC is set up in Sandakan, they can go to the centre after working hours to handle various matters such as renewal of vehicle road taxes, driver’s licenses and applying for passports.
In Poon’s opinion, Sandakan, which has the second most population in Sabah, should set up this UTC in Sandakan that covers at least 10 government departments as soon as possible as this is a reflection of the government’s people-centred approach to serve the general public better and keep the promise made during elections.
The meeting was held at the Sabah State Administrative Centre in Teluk Likas.
