SANDAKAN: The airport here is expected to hit the million mark  in passenger traffic by the end of this year.

“Based on the statistics from 2015 and 2018,  we are confident the number of travellers serviced by Sandakan Airport will reach 1 million year’s end,” Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) General Manager, Finance Business Partner Nornajihah Ismail said.

However, she said the target would not be achieved without the support and cooperation from all quarters including all departments and agencies.

“Let us all join hands and work together to realise this target by ensuring the maximum satisfaction of all  users. MAHB has launched a programme “Happy Guest, Caring Host” service where all staff play an important role to ensure users of airports throughout Malaysia feel comfortable and happy,” Nornajihah said.

Nornajihah said this in her speech during the “Majlis Ceria Aidil Fitri” held at the Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd (MASB) office in the Sandakan Airport terminal building on Monday night. The event was jointly officiated by her and MAHB General Manager, Project Management Office Anifruzaidi Ab. Rahim.

Meanwhile, four retired employees were accorded appreciation at the event which also saw The Royal Malaysian Customs Department receiving the Sandakan Airport Best Department Award.
Malaysia Airports also presented financial contribution to the needy from Akademi Darul Quran.
Also present were MASB Sandakan Manager Haji Suhaimi Abdul Sani and other senior staff of MASB Sandakan. —(NEW SABAH TIMES)
