SANDAKAN : Successful entrepreneurs have been called to share their successful formula in doing business with other members of the community especially unemployed youths.
Sabah Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Arunarsin Taib (pic) said the noble effort could help reduce unemployment and contribute to the growth of the state.
“Doing business is a good career and one need not be employed to find a living.
“We know employment opportunities are also limited but at the same time youths should not stay unemployed and one should look at starting a small business,” he said at the Sandakan Entrepreneur Award Presentation here Sunday night.
More than 1,000 entrepreneurs attended the event organised for the first time by Sabah Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (DPUS), Bumiputera Business and Entrepreneur Development Chamber, and Sabah Women’s Small and Medium Industries Association (IKSNITA).
At the ceremony, four local Sandakan entrepreneurs received excellent entrepreneur awards while 31 were awarded promising entrepreneurs.
There were also five special awards recipients including DPUS president Anita Mohammed and Sabah IKSNITA president Datuk Dayang Haja Khatijah Datu Bachtiyal.
