THOSE BEHIND ILLEGALY-ISSUED IC SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR TREASON

KOTA KINABALU: The recent uncovering of yet another set of the Federal NRD staff who led the the issuing of MyKad to illegal immigrants in Sabah should be charged for treason, said a veteran Sabah politician.

Cleftus Mojingol, president of Pertubuhan Kebudayaan Rumpun Dayak Sabah (PKRDS) said selling the country’s security and sabotaging its sovereignty are treasonous, and thus the culprits should be charged as such.

Punishment for treason is death penalty.

Cleftus who was a president of the now defunct Pasok political party, also said that politicians who had openly supported giving out MyKads or Malaysian documents to illegal immigrants should also be charged for treason as they had encouraged such heinous act.

He also called on both the Federal and State governments to follow-up on the Report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah.

“What is the status of the recommendations of the RCI Report which was published in December 2014? What about the two committees set up at the conclusion of the inquiry? Are they still working or sleeping?” he asked adding he never heard of replacements.

The main committee was jointly headed by then DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and then Sabah CM, Musa Aman while the technical committee by then DCM Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

Cleftus also took to task current Sabah leaders especially those who are with the ruling coalition for not only failing to diligently follow-up on the Report but have been quite “supportive” to illegal immigrants in Sabah lately.

Cleftus also raised a question on the hundreds of thousands of MyKads and birth certificates issued to the Filipinos, Indonesians and Indians-Pakistanis under dubious manner.

“Is the Federal Government taking any action to withdraw or cancel these dubiously-acquired documents? Why is the government silent on this?” Cleftus asked.
