SANDAKAN: SMK Konven St. Cecilia Parents-Teachers Association (PIBG) chairman Dr. Peter Jr Naintin presented financial aid and exam writing paper to 40 underprivileged students from Form 1 to Form 5 of the school.
Peter also delivered a motivation talk to these students before handing over school equipment from PIBG SMK Konven St. Cecilia to the school.
During the talk, Peter shared his experiences as student and highlighted that the lifelong education is a journey that can change and improve our human capital in this country.
As the new elected chairman, Peter said PIBG have carried out several meetings as to understand the current condition, especially on student performance in academic and curriculum; and the available facilities within the school.
The new PIBG committee has agreed with an annual budget to focus on facilitating the teachers by providing them with sufficient equipment for their teaching aids and curriculum activities at school.
Speaking to media after the ceremony, Peter said the PIBG has provided two sets of new desktop computers, two units of power stabilizer, one unit of portable speaker including four sets of microphone, and two units of radio/CD players.
“At the same time, PIBG also helped to repair and upgrade the existing six units of computers and supply six sets of new mouse and keyboard for the school,” Peter said.
In addition, student welfare has become priority as well, where PIBG is providing financial aid to the underprivileged students for their food; and promoting rewards for student with good performance in academic, curriculum and attendance.
As one of the bi-annual events calendar, PIBG will organise a Walkathon / Jogathon in January 2020, as part of fundraising initiatives for the school, he continued.
Peter urged members of the public to support this effort for the school and students.
Meanwhile, on hand to receive the equipment from Peter on behalf of the school was principal Soo Tian Hock.
